Líquenes

Os líquenes são seres vivos muito simples que constituem uma simbiose de um organismo formado por um fungo (o micobionte) e uma alga ou cianobactéria (o fotobionte).
Os líquenes desenvolvem-se como lâminas ou placas de várias cores na superfície de árvores ou de pedras, expostas à humidade e ao sol. São geralmente estudados pelos botânicos, apesar de não serem verdadeiras plantas.
A verdadeira natureza desta simbiose é ainda tema de debate pelos cientistas, em que alguns afirmam que o fungo é um parasita do fotobionte; no entanto, em muitos casos, a alga sozinha não sobrevive no habitat ocupado, assim como o fungo isolado também não sobrevive e, portanto, não é realístico usar o termo parasita.



Lichens are very simple creatures that are a blend of a body formed by a fungus (the micobionte) and an alga or cyanobacterium (the photobiont).
Lichens grow as sheets or plates of various colors on the surface of trees or rocks, exposed to moisture and sun. They are usually studied by botanists, although they are not true plants.
The true nature of this symbiosis is still subject of discussion by scientists, some say the fungus is a parasite of the photobiont, however, in many cases, the algae can not survive alone in the habitat occupied, and also isolated the fungus does not survive and therefore is not realistic to use the term parasite.
