O bunho é uma espécie de junco. Tem caules redondos, verdes, lisos e sem folhas e cresce nas ribeiras de águas lentas. As folhas, em forma de tira, são todas submersas. As flores apresentam-se em conjuntos pouco densos de espiguilhas ovais vermelhas-acastanhadas, perto do topo dos caules. O seu habitat são as margens de cursos de água, pauis em ambientes de baixa energia.
The bulrush is a kind of reed. It has round stems, green, smooth and without leaves and grows in the streams of water slow. The leaves, in strips, are all submerged. The flowers come in clusters rather dense spikelets oval red-brown near the top of the stems. Their habitat is the banks of streams, marshes in low energy.
