Chapim-de-poupa

O chapim-de-poupa (Parus cristatus) alimenta-se sobretudo de insectos e larvas, aranhas e outros animais muito pequenos e também pequenas sementes. Faz o ninho na cavidade das árvores, em cavidades anteriormente utilizadas pelos pica-paus e em caixas-ninho deixadas nas árvores.
Caracteriza-se pela plumagem castanha e branca e, principalmente, pela pequena poupa que ostenta na cabeça
Frequenta meios florestais, apresentando preferência por pinhais. Em Portugal é uma espécie residente que ocorre durante todo o ano.
A única postura é feita entre Abril e Maio, com 4 a 8 ovos brancos com pintas púrpuras, e a incubação tem a duração de 13 a 18 dias.
As crias são indefesas e penugentas e fazem o seu primeiro voo entre os primeiros 17 e os 21 dias de vida.
Alimenta-se de insectos e sementes.
